Boston First Birthday Photo Shoot | Baby portrait

Much like many of my returning clients, Aojing’s family has returned with their little one. Our last session together was when this baby boy was still in his mother’s womb! It’s incredible to see how much he has grown; I can hardly believe it’s already time for his first birthday photo shoot! And the older brother has also noticeably grown since our last session!

For all my first birthday photo sessions, I typically provide a structured plan which includes family photos, individual portraits of the children, and a cake smash. However, I’m always open to custom requests. Aojing, for instance, preferred more traditional Chinese portraits over a cake smash, which was perfectly fine. So, her session included family photos, traditional Chinese portraits, and a Chinese New Year theme, fitting since the session coincided with the Spring Festival.

The little one was such a cheerful baby, and like many younger siblings, he was greatly influenced by his older brother, who was a fantastic helper during the session. I usually let the older sibling take solo shots while the younger one observes—it’s a wonderful way to prepare the younger one for what’s to come.

I’m grateful to all my returning clients who allow me to capture their significant family milestones such as pregnancy, newborn stages, baby’s first milestones, and, of course, the first birthday. Witnessing the joy of your family’s growth is the most fulfilling aspect of my work.
