Maternity Photos at Horn Pond, Woburn | Outdoor Maternity Photos
Marissa found me through one of my lovely returning clients who has had several sessions with me over the years. There’s no greater compliment than when a client recommends me to their friends. I was honored to capture this special time as Marissa and her family prepare to welcome their second baby. Their daughter, soon to be a big sister, brought so much joy and energy to the session.
We met on a beautiful spring afternoon for their outdoor maternity photo session at Horn Pond in Woburn. This location offers a peaceful natural backdrop, perfect for capturing candid family moments and soft, glowy light.
When Is the Best Time for Maternity Photos?
The ideal time for a maternity photoshoot is between 28 and 32 weeks of pregnancy. At this stage, the baby bump is well-defined, and most mothers still feel comfortable moving and posing. For second or later pregnancies, I usually recommend scheduling a little earlier. The bump often shows sooner, and moms may feel more tired in the final stretch.
Marissa’s older child is an energetic toddler—just two years old—so an outdoor session was the perfect choice. Toddlers love to explore, and outdoor maternity photography allows them the space to move freely while we capture genuine family moments

We were lucky with the weather—sunny with just the right amount of clouds. Boston’s spring weather can be unpredictable, so I always prepare a backup plan just in case. Thankfully, the sun peeked through at just the right moments, giving us that beautiful golden glow Horn Pond is known for.
Maternity sessions like this one are truly special. They mark the start of a new chapter and celebrate the miracle of life. These fleeting weeks go by quickly, and it’s so important to document the love, anticipation, and joy before your little one arrives.
